”I found the poems in the fields,
And only wrote them down.”
Regarded as one of the most important poets of the natural world, John Clare (1793-1864) wrote about love, corruption and politics, environmental and social change, poverty and folk life. The John Clare Society was founded in 1981 to promote a wider and deeper knowledge of this remarkable poet, and to celebrate his life.
